Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year. I hope your ​children are thriving in our schools with their amazing ​teachers and staff. Everyone at our schools wants the ​first few days of school to be special and puts in so ​much work to make everything smooth and fun for ​children. There is nothing quite like the first days of ​school especially for our students entering into their ​school at TK, Kindergarten, or middle school. Check ​out the video below to hear how the first days went ​from some of these students themselves! We love ​seeing happy students in our schools.

Amanda Timar is our district’s Supervisor of our Child Nutrition ​Services Department. Amanda and her staff are dedicated to the ​continuous improvement of the wonderful meals they serve our ​students. Just in case you missed Amanda’s e-mail, I am resharing ​the information she sent out about the big news that we are now a ​Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) District. Amanda recently ​wrote, “I am pleased to announce that the Soquel Union ​Elementary School District will implement the Community ​Eligibility Provision (CEP), a new option for schools participating ​in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. All Soquel ​Union Elementary School District schools will participate in CEP ​for the 2024-2025 school year. All students enrolled in CEP schools ​during the 2024-2025 School Year can receive breakfast and lunch ​each day at no charge. Through CEP, schools will not be collecting ​meal applications.” If you haven’t done so recently, I highly ​encourage you to click on the menu icon below and encourage ​your children to give school lunch a chance! They won’t regret it.

School Safety

Nothing is more important to SUESD than the ​safety and well-being of our students. Our ​principals are currently updating their emergency ​management plans which include regular drills ​for fire, earthquakes, Evacuation, Reverse ​Evacuation, Hall Checks, and Lockdowns. There ​are many other safety strategies we are ​committed to. You can read more in our district’s ​Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP). As we ​begin this new year I also wanted to remind you of ​a few important resources regarding student ​safety and well-being. Each of our schools has an ​Anti-Bullying Plan and takes the issue of bullying ​very seriously. STOPit is an anonymous reporting ​app for student safety and is available at our ​elementary sites and at New Brighton Middle ​School. Watching this brief video will give you an ​overview of the app. I encourage families to ​download the app. Finally, our Counseling Team ​has put together an amazingly comprehensive ​Family Resource Guide to help in a whole host ​areas.

Bienvenidos al año escolar 2024-25. Espero que sus hijos estén prosperando en nuestras escuelas con sus increíbles maestros y personal. Todos en nuestras escuelas quieren que los primeros días de clases sean especiales y se esfuerzan mucho para que todo sea fácil y divertido para los niños. No hay nada como los primeros días de clases, especialmente para nuestros estudiantes que ingresan a su escuela en TK, Kindergarten o escuela secundaria. ¡Mire el video a continuación para escuchar cómo fueron los primeros días de parte de algunos de estos estudiantes! Todas las escuelas del Distrito Escolar Primario Soquel Union participarán en el CEP para el año escolar 2024-2025. Todos los estudiantes inscritos en las escuelas CEP durante el año escolar 2024-2025 pueden recibir desayuno y almuerzo todos los días sin cargo. A través del CEP, las escuelas no recopilarán solicitudes de comidas”. Seguridad escolar

Nada es más importante para SUESD que la seguridad ​y el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes. Nuestros ​directores están actualizando actualmente sus planes ​de gestión de emergencias que incluyen simulacros ​regulares de incendio, terremotos, evacuación, ​evacuación inversa, controles de pasillos y cierres de ​emergencia. Hay muchas otras estrategias de ​seguridad con las que estamos comprometidos. Puede ​leer más en el Plan Integral de Seguridad Escolar ​(CSSP) de nuestro distrito. Al comenzar este nuevo ​año, también quería recordarle algunos recursos ​importantes relacionados con la seguridad y el ​bienestar de los estudiantes. Cada una de nuestras ​escuelas tiene un Plan Anti-Bullying y se toma muy en ​serio el problema del bullying. STOPit es una ​aplicación de denuncia anónima para la seguridad de ​los estudiantes y está disponible en nuestros sitios de ​primaria y en New Brighton Middle School.
